High
Point is a city located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina.
Most of the city is located in Guilford County, with portions spilling
into neighboring Randolph, Davidson, and Forsyth counties. High Point
is North Carolina's only city that extends into four counties.

Point’s Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, the 36th largest
metro area in the nation, is home to 1.5 million residents. High Point’s
location is key to its success. It’s the midpoint between Charlotte
and Raleigh, Washington, D. C. and Atlanta, and New York and Miami.
It’s surrounded by an impressive transportation network including
I-40, I-85 I-73 and I-74. And, it’s only minutes from Piedmont
Triad International Airport.
Transportation
Also serving Greensboro and Winston-Salem, the Piedmont Triad International
Airport provides service to High Point.
Amtrak trains connect High Point with the cities of New York, Philadelphia,
Baltimore, Washington, Richmond, Raleigh, Charlotte, Atlanta, Birmingham
and New Orleans.
Interstate 85 runs through southern High Point, southeast of the original
interstate roadway, which is now known as Business 85. In the future,
High Point will have Interstate 74 north and east of center city. Construction
on the "East Belt" freeway project is scheduled for completion
after 2011. Part of this freeway is already built, and is designated
as U.S. Route 311.
Additionally, the Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART)
operates in High Point. The service shuttles people between most of
the cities in the northwestern Piedmont region of North Carolina. High
Point also provides public transportation. The main service for public
transportation in High Point is Hitran, the local bus service.
